Star Wars : The Last Jedi - my view

It seems that everyone who has reviewed "The Last Jedi" has gone in with a preconceived notion of how it should have been. They are all complaining that the movie doesn't follow what they feel should have happened. If the movie just confirms your story, why go and see it. I go into a movie with a little bit of an idea of what it's about, but no preconceived notion of how it should end. A movie for me is fun, and best when I don't know what's going on.
I am a Star Wars fan. I've watched many episodes on the first day, with everyone in the first week. I am a fan, but not really a fanatic. I don't play the games, have never read any of the books, or comics. I have watched the cartoons, and keep up with Star Wars Rebels. I enjoy watching the movies, and cartoons, I go in with an open mind and let the movie play and judge it on that and not what I want it to be.

OK, now to my view of the movie.
It was awesome. It may not have been the best of the Star Wars movies but it wasn't the worst. Like the second Star Wars movie, Star Wars V, it was 2 separate movies, part with Rae, part with Fin. Rae delves into the Force and her growth in it and wondering how she fit in. Fin, the reluctant hero, wants to run, but stays to do the right thing. Both follow the paths of Luke and Han. Both lead to a final chapter of this trilogy which takes a fallen Rebellion, an unfocused First Order with Snopes death and Kylo taking over.
The action was great, the drama and interaction of the characters was interesting. The bits of humor were fun and not over done. It's a movie I am sure I'll see again, even if next time will be on a tv and not in theaters. Great intensity in the action scenes.
In general I liked it, and don't feel that it stepped on canon*. It may be a little long for some, but I didn't mind the length because I was immersed in the show. It's no worse than binge watching a tv series.

I recommend it unless you are one of those who feel that Star Wars is so sacred that if it doesn't follow your idea of what it should be then it's wrong, you can stay away, you will complain because you are too picky about it. Enjoy it for what it is, a new chapter, and a new direction for the new stars of the Star Wars galaxy.

*btw what is canon, and who decides it. The movies are canon, whether you like them or not. Star Wars 1 is canon, Star Wars 8 is canon, they are in the movies, and can't be unseen.
